Amazon has chosen to discontinue support and usage of the .mobi ebook file standard.
The .mobi file type is, by digital standards an antique. It was introduced in 2000 by a company called Mobipocket SA. Amazon bought them in 2005 and typical to a number of tech acquisitions (by many different large technology acquirers), forgot about the .mobi standard.
If you have previously downloaded our ebooks in the .mobi format to your Amazon Kindle or Kindle software those books remain supported and readable on your device. However, you will not be able to add any new .mobi files to your device. All .mobi files that you have already added to your Kindle are safe. They won’t be deleted. You will have full access to them.
Amazon has chosen to fully support the .epub file standard.
EPUB is a technical standard published by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). It became an official standard of the IDPF in 2007. The current version of EPUB is 3.2.
Because of this we will remove all .mobi files from our site. In the mean time before we can finish this task, we ask you to be mindful and NOT download .mobi files when you purchase books from us. Your Amazon Kindle device should support our .epub files without any problems.
